Hi, y'all. Just got home and decided to give you a report on my con adventure today. I went as my OC Duelist instead of Byakuya this time. Decided to give him a break. Had the annual photoshoot with ~DrunkenShinigami. Looking forward to those pictures. Ran into a crap ton of bronies (yay!) and had fun talking with them. I nearly fell flat on my face down the stairs. I mis-stepped and nearly took out a group of cosplayers but I was able to catch myself. After that, I don't know if it was from shock or embarrassment but I had to get outside because I felt like I was starting to suffocate. So I went outside to get some air flowing. Went back in to wander some more. I ended up buying a scale mail choker, traded one of my YGO cards for a new one, and had a quick draw of my face done. The rest of my money went for food runs. I have two things of note that I want to share.

First off, I was in the dealer's room and got talking to a guy named Mike who was impressed with my (cheap) Duelist cosplay. He then up and asked me if I had a boyfriend. Talk about surprising. That's a first for me. Sadly for him, I had to turn him down. I've been with my man for ten years (hopefully for the rest of my life).

Second off is definitely going to be one of my fondest memories. I saw a Resident Evil group around and one of them was a Wesker cosplayer. My sister said she saw him dip someone before our photoshoot that afternoon. A couple hours after that, I tracked him down outside for a hug and that's when I thought, I should have Joe get a picture for that. I was back with him and Sis when I thought about it so I went back to find him. Could not find him anywhere. I looked around and I started getting depressed over missing my chance. Well, my group and I were sitting down to take a break in the student union when I see Wesker again. I was like, "Out of the way! Out of the way!" with my friends and I caught up with him. This was about 9 at night so I was already starting to feel the weariness of the day. I was practically apologizing to Wesker for dragging him back to where Joe and the rest of the group was and for having him dip me for a picture because apparently, Wesker was doing it a lot over the course of the day. He was a good guy. Didn't mind it at all. Got the picture I wanted. An Ichigo cosplayer with our group wanted to snap that pose so I had Wesker do it again. Around the time we were getting ready to leave, we pass him again and the Claire cosplayer with him said he wanted to dip me again. For no real reason. No cameras. Just wanted to plain dip me again.

I'm impressed with myself. When Wesker dipped me, he got real close to (for the sake of this journal) my face. I'm impressed I held his gaze for as long as I did all three times. I don't like looking people in the eye for too long because I get uncomfortable. Managed to hold his eyes when he was easily five inches from my face. I'm surprised no one commented on my face which I'm sure was red like a tomato. =^w^= Never did get his name though. Ah well. I was so tired by then, I actually felt like I was going to cry tears of joy. That sort of thing is rare for me but apparently, exhaustion does a number on me.

Well, that's my report. Expect the pictures Joe took to be up either tomorrow or in the next couple of weeks because I'll be taking them for my own gallery.

That's no problem. I've been waiting for seven years for my cousin to do the 3D version for her.

Just a note that I've enjoyed reading your Ship Spirit short stories. It's nice to see something that reflects history, and you've done your research on these various vessels.

People talk about boats and aircraft as though they were living women, and it's not hard to imagine they would have a spirit in them. It's almost like the dryads who inhabit the spirits of trees in Greek mythology.

If you ever get in the mood for writing about another interesting vessel, you should check out the story of the Vasa She was a beautifully carved and decorated 17th century Swedish warship who also sank in her maiden voyage- literally sailing out of the Stockholm harbor due to faulty ballast. It was tragic because of her great beauty and powerful build, but also the loss of her cost Sweden a lot. The country never was again a great military power. What makes the story really beautiful, though, is the ship was found in quite good condition in the 20th century. She was carefully and reverently raised from the water. A museum was built around her, and she's now Stockholm's most popular attraction. Thousands of people from around the world come to admire her beauty and hear her story. People also learn about life on board a 17th century ship and life in Sweden in the 1600s. So a ship of war has now become a ship of peace who brings people together. That would be something that would inspire a spirit, I think.

Thank you for your generous compliment. I'm a history buff in general so my research is basically whatever has my attention.

To think that this entire series actually had its start in the song Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot. I still don't have a short for her up and it's likely not going to be up as long as Titanic has my already divided attention between her and Sengoku Basara.
